WOW!
Remember when music was about feel-good melodies, great beats and really good instrumental arranged music... ?
This is a really nice song. Although I woulda liked a melodic guitarsolo, it's precise would I had hoped the new NB stuff would sound like !
If this is anything but a hint of things to come on the forthcoming album, I cannot wait!
Great vocals, good lyrics, summer-like melody - feel good atmosphere!

Leave it to Nickelback to take basic rock music and turn it into something that gets your attention...each and every time you hear it.
It doesn't matter that all the expected chord changes are in there and the melody has been used a million times before...there's that little extra 'pizazz' to a Nickelback single that makes it stick in your head and stay there...that's why they sell so well. And it never hurts to have a vocalist like Chad Kroeger, whose vocal character is SO unique (and that's a GOOD unique)...you can't possible say this sounds like everyone else out there.
The overall production on this single is top-notch...there is almost no way this won't be the No. 1 video on VH1's Top 20 Countdown for 5 to 10 weeks sometime in the near future, not to mention the regular charts.
"Gotta Be Somebody" is a guaranteed hit...and definitely worthy of being one.

Outdoing themselves isn't hard to do for Nickelback, since they mostly get by with the bar just being low enough for them to top in the next album, while still selling millions upon millions of records. So is the case with the first track in their follow-up to the modern rocker, which sold six-million. If the rest of the album is anything like this track, then it should sell even more. Not that's it's the best song ever made, but it is Nickelback's best, and it's surprisingly good on top of that.
Chad Kroeger is apparently looking for true love, and is shockingly positive about it. No anger or bad language, no annoying gaffs, and in fact it stands pretty tall lyrically. It reads kind of reads like "Far Away" musically and in general feel, but this is much less sappy.
So overall, a harmless song and Chad Kroeger looking for his soul mate. What could go wrong? Before airplay has all-but murdered it, nothing. Check back in a few months after radio's chewed on it, and get back with me. I predict big things chart-wise, and it's certain to rule modern rock as the weeks start coming and going. Nickelback creating something pleasing and pretty darn good? Now that's the surprise of the year.

Extremely good song that is unique yet still stays true to the Nickelback we all know and love.
