David has done a great job! November 18, 2008 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
It has been a long wait, but it is finally here. I have several favorites on this CD. Permanent, Declaration and Light On are the ones I listen to the most. Of course, I cry every time I hear Permanent. I think several of these songs could be singles and do well.
Overall, a very nice first shot by David. This is one of those albums we won't get tired of any time soon. Can't say that has happened too often with other singers/CD's.
You won't be sorry when you purchase David Cook's first CD!!
Pleasantly unsurprised how good it is!!! November 20, 2008 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I have been a David Cook fan since his first apperance on American Idol. I was disheartened to hear from the critics that his album was going to be a disappointment. I prepared myself for the worst. Then what happened? I heard it, and am glad to say the critics were wrong,I am pleasantly unsurprised at how good it is. This album fulfills all my hopes for his first album. Engaging, varied and thoughtful. Was "Light On" the best choice for a first single? Maybe not, other cuts are by far better. Do want some rock "Bar-ba-sol" is the song for you. Need something soulful to make you cry "Permanent" fits the bill. And I could go on. Do yourself a favor and explore it yourself. It just gets better the more I listen to it.
Amazing voice, incredible songwriter! November 19, 2008 8 out of 12 found this review helpful
David Cook is more than a contest winner, he is a bonafide rockstar! This cd doesn't have a weak track, they're all dynamic. I can't listen to it enough. Standouts include: Declaration, Permanent, Come Back to Me, Lie and Bar-Ba-Sol(but they're all very enjoyable). Cook wrote or cowrote nearly every track and shows himself to be a talented songwriter. He will be a star for years and years!
Well Done November 18, 2008 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
All the tracks are really well done. The songs fit his vocal talent. Although David could really sing the phonebook and it would be good. I'm gald to see that no one tried to put together a bunch of crossover songs (see Taylor Hicks). Maybe the Idol producers finally got it. Declaration,Light On,Avalanche and Daily Anthem were worth the wait. Again Well Done
So Worth the Wait! November 22, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Oh Man...I can listen to this all day long. I LOVE Bar-Ba-Sol. My fave part is at 20 secs...that bass--oh that bass! Kudos to the drums and bass player. They really make it a rock album and not an AI album. And who can't relate to Lie? I mean how many of us choose to ignore the truth just to avoid being crushed? And Permanent is so SAD! That is so about his brother you can tell. And Come Back to Me brings back memories from a day when I thought I needed to find myself as well. However, I don't remember my man saying I'll wait for you though. DC has a LONG career ahead of him. AWESOME ALBUM! BUY IT!
